Look Good...Feel Better
The American Cancer Society is offering Look Good...Feel Better, a national program to help women undergoing cancer treatment deal with appearance related side effects. Sessions are conducted by volunteer cosmetologists. The program is free.

I Can Cope
The American Cancer Society will offer it's quarterly series, I Can Cope, beginning Tuesday, Sept. 3. for those diagnosed with cancer and their family and friends.Sessions address a variety of topics including cancer diagnosis, cancer treatments, side effects, nutrition, exercise and stress management.
Each 2-hour session begins at 6:30 p.m. and will be held on four consecutive Tuesday evenings at Warren Baptist Church, 3202 Washington Road. Admission is free but registration is encouraged. Refreshments and child care are provided.

Registration for two new classes

Steel Magnolias

Golf Tournament
The Greater Augusta Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors will be holding its tenth annual "Christmas for Charities" golf tournament at the Forest Hills Golf Club on August 29, 2002. The entry fee is $60 per person. The fee includes lunch, which will be served at noon, with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to the top three teams, as well as to the golfer with the longest drive and to the golfer closest to the pin. Cat Show
Masters Cat Club will sponsor the 2002 Cat Fanciers' Association cat show to be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 at Riverview Park, North Augusta.
It will feature more than 200 purebred cats including Maine Coon Cats, Manx, Persians and Siamese.

Fund-raiser and blood drive
As Shepeard Community Blood Center nears it's 24 anniversary, two major events are planned.
"The Shepeard Shag" will be held Friday, Aug. 23. The event will feature music, dancing, food and silent auction. Proceeds will be used to purchase and replace a 17-year-old bloodmobile. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at the center's Augusta or Martinez locations.

House numbers encouraged
The Columbia County Planning and Development office is encouraging residents to ensure that their homes have their street address numbers plainly visible from the street so that emergency personnel can find the correct address.
House numbers should be at least 3 inches tall, mounted on a mailbox, be visible from both directions of the road and should not be hidden by weeds or flowers.

Miss Classic South
The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce wants to acknowledge the area's young ladies that are tomorrow's leaders. Mothers' Morning Out program begins registration
The Vineyard Preschool and Mothers Morning-out Program is now accepting registration for the fall 2002 school year program.
The program, which is sponsored by the Vineyard Church of Augusta, is available Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The program is for children one year through five years of age.
The program is also accepting applications for the summer camp program, Kids Zone. This program is open weekly Tuesday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Registration set for Mother's Day Out
The Mother's Day Out program at West Acres Baptist Church is taking registration for the fall and summer programs.

Volunteers needed
The Court Appointed Special Advocate Program is looking for volunteers age 21 and older to help advocate for abused and neglected children in the juvenile court system.
