Softball tryouts

Lakeside High School softball tryouts will begin Monday, July 29 at 4 p.m. on the school softball field. Players will need to bring a current physical in order to try out.

Evans High School softball tryouts will begin Monday, July 29 at 9 a.m. on the school softball field. Players must have a current physical and insurance in order to try out.

Volleyball tryouts

Greenbrier High School volleyball tryouts will begin Monday, July 29 at 9:30 a.m. at the Greenbrier Middle School gymnasium. A physical and proof of insurance are needed in order to try out. Players also are asked to bring knee pads.

Harlem High School volleyball tryouts begin at 10 a.m. Monday, July 29 at the school gymnasium. A physical and proof of insurance are required to try out. Lunch will be provided on the opening day of tryouts.

Volleyball clinic

A volleyball clinic will be held Aug. 1, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, at the First Baptist Church of North Augusta Family Life Center. The clinic will be conducted by Coker College head coach Cindy Robarge and experienced players from Coker College. The cost is $40, and the clinic is limited to the first 30 girls ages 11-18 to register. Each player will receive a clinic T-shirt. For more information call 279-2215.

Swimming tryouts

Aiken-Augusta Swim League, a year-round, non-profit swim team, will be holding tryout sessions for the 2002-03 season. Swimmers must be able to complete 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke to be eligible. The tryouts will be at Augusta State University on Tuesday, July 30, from 6 to 7 p.m. for ages 10 and younger, and 7 to 8 p.m. for swimmers ages 11 and up. Soccer registration

Registration for The Family Y's new Top Soccer program will be held through Aug. 3 at Southside Branch at 2340 Milledgeville Road. Hours for registration are: Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and, Saturday from 8 a.m. till noon. Top Soccer is designed for developmentally and physically challenged boys and girls ages 6-12. The program session will be held Sept. 10 through Nov. 1 at Southside Branch. Per person fees are: $37 for Gold Members; $44 for Silver Members; and, $50 for Bronze Members.
