Lunch with Chambliss
Congressman Charlie Norwood, Richmond County Campaign Chairs Dave Barbee and Barbara Sims and Columbia County Campaign Chair Debbie McCord play host to a lunch with Congressman Saxby Chambliss - Republican Candidate for the U.S. Senate - on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Dye's Fish Camp on Columbia Road. The cost of the event is $10, and includes lunch and a Saxby t-shirt.
Feline extravaganza
The Columbia County Humane Society is sponsoring a Feline Extravaganza on Thursday, July 25th at Petsmart in Augusta from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The CCHS volunteers have recently rescued many cats and kittens that are looking for loving homes. These feline extravaganzas are in addition to the regularly scheduled adoptions on Saturdays (11 a.m.-3 p.m.) and Sundays (1 p.m.-4 p.m.)
Telephone book recycling
Telephone book recycling containers have been placed at the following locations in Columbia County: Savannah Rapids Pavilion, Evans to Lock Road, Evans, Parking lot of North Wing of the Evans Government Complex, The Water Works Parking lot near exit sign on 4235 Evans to Lock Road, Columbia County Landfill, 590 Baker Place Road, Grovetown, Roads & Bridges Parking lot on 2257 County Camp Road, Appling, and the Grovetown and Harlem city halls.
School councils meet
The South Columbia Elementary School Council will meet on July 24, 2002, at 1 p.m. in the media center of the school.
Also, the 2002-2003 School Council of Blue Ridge Elementary School will hold a meeting on Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at 1:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the conference room in the media center.
The Brookwood Elementary School Council will meet on Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at 11:30 a.m., in the media center. The Bel Air Elementary School Council will meet on Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. in the media center.
Steel Magnolias
Stage III, Ltd., Columbia County's Community Theater, will present Steel Magnolias. The dinner theater runs from Thursday, August 22, to Saturday, August 24. A Sunday matinee will also be presented August 25 at 3 p.m. All performances will be held at the Augusta Jewish Community Center off Fury's Ferry Road in Evans. Appreciation Celebration
The Gospel Water Branch Baptist Church Music Department will have an Appreciation Celebration for Bro. Fred Lockhart and Company on July 27 at 6 p.m. A reception will take place in the Church Fellowship Hall immediately following the program. The dress attire is semi-formal.
