Blood drive

The Columbia County EMA Office will hold its annual summer blood drive Thursday. The event will take place at the Columbia County Government Complex auditorium from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Each year, about 100 employees of the Emergency Management Agency and others from the community donate blood during the drive, which is run by the Shepeard Community Blood Center.

The public is invited to attend and participate, and donors will receive free food and T-shirts.

Feline extravaganza

The Columbia County Humane Society is sponsoring two Feline Extravaganzas.

The first is Thursday and the second is Thursday, July 25th at Petsmart in Augusta from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The CCHS volunteers have recently rescued many cats and kittens that are looking for loving homes. These feline extravaganzas are in addition to the regularly scheduled adoptions on Saturdays (11 a.m.-3 p.m.) and Sundays (1 p.m.-4 p.m.)

Harlem Museum to open

The Museum of Harlem will hold its grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremonies July 15 at 10 a.m. The museum will feature a Laurel and Hardy display of memorabilia. New church

Calvary Tabernacle meets every Sunday at Wingate Inn on Belair Road. The service starts at 3 p.m.

122nd Church Anniversary

The Gospel Water Branch church family will be celebrating our 122 Church Anniversary on Sunday. The Anniversary Celebration - dubbed Extending our Ministry Beyond the Walls of Comfort - with a week of spiritual praise and fun packed festivities.

Beginning Wed. July 10, @ 6:30 p.m. and continuing through the week on specific days. The festival of activities will be family focused, filled with prayers, praises, recognition, and a family picnic. Rev. Jerome Anderson, pastor of New Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Orangeburg, S.C, will be the guest speaker for the Anniversary Celebration. For more information call 860-7091.

Time Out

On Thursday, July 18, at 11:50 a.m., the First Baptist Church of Evans will have Time Out, a monthly "inspiration and lunch" gathering for all who live or work in our community.
