Summer meeting
The summer meeting at the White Oak Camp Ground in Columbia County will be held June 23 through June 30. Services will be conducted under the open-air tabernacle at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily. A barbecue lunch by the plate or by the pound will be held following the morning service June 23rd in the dining hall. White Oak Camp Ground is located on Whiteoak Road bout a half mile north of the McDuffie/Columbia County line. For additional information or directions, call 706-595-5122.
Ethics seminar
Ted Lee, director of the Ethics Commission, will present a seminar on the Georgia Ethics in Government Act from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday, June 25 in the auditorium of the Columbia County Government Complex, Evans.
Lee will discuss expenditures, contributions, financial disclosure statements and other facets of the law.
Council meetings
Westmont Elementary School will hold a council meeting on Thursday at 6 p.m. to elect an additional business partner in the media center.
The Martinez Elementary School 2002 Council will hold its monthly meeting at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the media center.
Patriotic service
The Church of the Holy Comforter will be having a patriotic service at tje Savannah Rapids Pavilion at 5 p.m. June 30The event will be followed by a concert featuring a 50-piece concert band playing Fourth of July favorites. There will also be a remembrance of all Sept. 11th victims and a thanksgiving for recovery workers. A barbecue supper will be available. The concert is free. Tickets for the supper are $5.50 for adults and $4 for children. For more information, call the church at 210-1133.
Summer camp
Grovetown's free summer camp for children ages 6-16 will be July 8-12 at Goodale Park on Wrightsboro Road. The camp is open to all children, with supervised activities from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., lunch each day and an afternoon "sprinkle shower" provided by the Grovetown Department of Public Safety.
