Ethics seminar

Ted Lee, director of the Ethics Commission, will present a seminar on the Georgia Ethics in Government Act from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday, June 25 in the auditorium of the Columbia County Government Complex, Evans.

Lee will discuss expenditures, contributions, financial disclosure statements and other facets of the law.

Seniors get free legal service

Georgia Legal Services Program staff will be in Columbia County June 19 to meet with senior citizens wanting free legal help.

A staff member of GLSP will meet with seniors from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., June 19 at the Columbia County Senior Center, 5913 Euchee Creek Drive, Grovetown.

Council meetings

The Martinez Elementary School 2002 Council will hold its monthly meeting at 8 p.m. June 25 in the media center.

Westmont Elementary School will hold a council meeting on June 20 at 6 p.m. to elect an additional business partner in the media center.

Greenbrier High School's June meeting will be June 17 at 5:30 p.m. in the school's administrative conference room.

Euchee Creek Elementary's June meeting will be June 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the school's office conference room.

Bible Schools

Harlem Baptist Church, located at 105 West Milledgeville Road, will hold its Vacation Bible School on June 17-21 from 9 a.m. to noon. Children from age 3 years and up are invited to enter the Amazon Rain Forest as the Amazon Outfitters go on expedition with God.

Children can also enter the Rain Forest at Powell Baptist Church's bible school, which will be held June 17-21 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There are classes from preschool to adult.

Arts and Craft

An Arts and Crafts show will be held on during the 4th of July celebration at Patriots Park. Vendors who are interested should call 868-3458. No food or drink vendors will be allowed and the cost is $20 per entry. The event will run from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Georgia forestry advice

The Georgia Forestry Commission is advising residents whether their homes are in the potential line of fire. The service is particularly aimed at rural residents. For more information, call Chief Ranger Steve Abbott at 556-3962.

Hardy meeting

The Berthmarks Tent (Laurel & Hardy Appreciation Club) will be meeting June 18 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Harlem Library. For more information, call 556-3448 or e-mail harlemcityhall@charter.net.
