Calling all cheerleaders

Southern Mpact Athletics, Augusta's only independently owned all-star cheerleading program, will have its first-ever open tryouts/evaluations on June 22 at 8 a.m. at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church. Open to all seriously interested girls in grades 1-12. Please contact Nicki Milford at 863-9115 for more information.

Lady Jaguar Basketball Camp

Augusta State University Coach Greg Wilson's Lady Jaguar Basketball Camp will be held this week (team camp, $75 per player), and a second session will be held June 24-28 (individual camp, $150 per player). The camps, which will be held at Augusta State University Athletic Complex, are for players ages 7-17. Daily camp times are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information call 731-7909.

Cheerleading camp

The Evans High School cheerleaders will host their second annual cheerleading camp June 17-21 at Evans High School. Children in Pre-K through fifth grade are invited. Pre-registration cost is $80, and late registration is $90. Cost includes four days of lunch, a T-shirt and snacks. Contact Robin (650-1796) or Kelly (855-0699) for more information.

Basketball camps

The first annual Fastbreak Girls Basketball Camp will be conducted June 24-28 at Augusta Preparatory Day School's Boardman Gymnasium. The camp is for players in grades five through eight (ages nine to 14), and the cost is $150. Each camper will receive a T-shirt, camp notebook, new basketball and daily lunch. The camp schedule includes: fundamentals; stretching and ball-handling; league play; contests; films and videotapes; and, awards. The 11th annual Sure-Shot Basketball Camp is having sessions this week. The camp for boys entering grades 6-9 is at Riverside Middle School, and the cost is $75; a camp for boys and girls entering grades 2-5 is at Lakeside Middle School, and the cost is $70. Daily camp times are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $100 with lunch provided, or $80 if campers bring their own lunch. Tennis camps

Petersburg Racquet Club in Martinez is offering summer tennis camps for juniors ages 18 and under. Morning and all-day camps for all are available for all ages and levels. Morning camps for beginner through intermediate levels run for eight of the first nine weeks of summer (July Fourth week is off). Half-day and all-day camps for tournament players also will be held for eight weeks this summer. All-camps are open to non members.
