Tennis Camps

Petersburg Racquet Club in Martinez is offering summer tennis camps for juniors 18 and under. Morning and all-day camps are available for all ages and levels. Morning camps for beginner through intermediate levels will run for eight of the first nine weeks of summer (July Fourth week is off). Half-day and all-day camps for tournament players are held for eight weeks throughout the summer. All camps are open to non-members. Evans Basketball Camp

The 11th annual Evans High School Basketball Camp will be held June 10-14, and the second session will be July 8-12. The camp times are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $100 with lunch provided, or $85 if you bring your own lunch. The camp, which if for ages 6-14, will focus on fundamentals, team play and strategy. Greenbrier Baseball Camp

The Greenbrier High School Baseball camp will be June 17-20 at Patriots Park. The camp is open to players in grades 3-8, and the cost is $75. Daily camp times are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information call Ed Williams at 541-9070 or 650-6040.

Golf tournament

The 37th annual North Augusta Country Club/Sertoma Junior Invitational Golf Tournament will be played June 10-13 at North Augusta Country Club. The 54-hole medal play event is limited to the first 100 entries ages 13-18 who qualify. The entry fee is $40, which includes a practice round and banquet. Junior golf clinics

Wedges & Woods has announced dates for its summer junior program, to be conducted by PGA Professional Alex McNeil. Upcoming sessions are: June 18-20/25-27; July 8-11/16-18; and July 23-25/30-Aug. 1. The cost is $95 per session. Each day of a session runs from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The classes will cover the grip, chipping, posture, bunker play, alignment, full swing, putting and etiquette. On the last day of each session, the class will play a round of golf. Classes are limited to eight students. Equipment will be furnished, if needed. Juniors can sign up from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Wedges & Woods, or an application can by obtained by calling 854-0360.

Hoop Shooting Clinic

A basketball shooting clinic takes place Friday and Saturday at Augusta Preparatory Day School's Boardman Gymnasium. World-class shooting coach Tom Nordland will conduct the clinic, which is open to boys and girls sixth grade or older. The cost is $50 per player, or $65, which includes the "Swish" shooting video. The Friday and Saturday clinic features four sessions (9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 2-6 p.m. each day). Coaches and parents are welcome to observe. Softball Tryout

A local 14-and-under girls fastpitch softball team will conduct tryouts Saturday at Blanchard Park. The tryouts will begin at 10 a.m., and the team name if to be announced. For more information, call Jeff Towe at 868-8485 of 771-5618.
