Minor League Baseball
Minor League Little League Baseball gets underway June 3 in Martinez.
To play at David Field, behind the Martinez-Evans Waterworks on Davis Road, four teams will battle for the top position.
The teams are composed of boys who wre not slected for the junior and senior fivisions of the Columbia County Little Program.
Teams will play Monday through Thursday with Fridays being used for make-up games if required. A six week program is planned. Parents are invited to attend the games. However, Director Jim Cook states that if they're only coming to fuss and complain, please stay home!
Harlem wins trophy
The Harlem Jaycees Club was presented a trophy in Brunswick from the Association Industries of Georgia for outstanding work in the field.
The Harlem Jaycees are now selling season tickets to the Harlem Recreation area and pool. In the event that someone wants any, the can contact Dr. Ward, Mark Stevens, or Charlie Edmunds in Harlem.
YWCA Opens
For fun in the out of doors with strong water front program, try Camp WO-HE-LO located on Clark Hill Lake near Lincolnton.
This outstanding YWCA Camp is open June 16th through July 13 and limits enrollment to 30 girls a session. Along with boating, canoeing and swimming there are camp-outs, cook-outs, singing, crafts and dramatics.
Registrations are now being accepted at YWCA in Augusta.
