Martinez woman earns business degree

Jessica Fogarty received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in marketing May 7 from Valdosta State University, where she was a member of Chi Omega Fraternity and the Order of Omega Honor Society.

She is a 1998 graduate of Lakeside High School and is the daughter of Gigi and Bob Fogarty of Martinez.

Pupils win citizenship award

Mallory Marlowe and Rebekah O'Rourke were the winners of the Johns Citizenship Award at Greenbrier Elementary School.

The Rotary Club of Columbia County presented the award during Honors Day, May 15. Each pupil also won $25.

Mallory is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Marlowe, and Rebekah is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael O'Rourke.

Local women shine in college competition

Lakeside High School graduates April Payne and Melissa Cook were members of a five-person University of Georgia team that placed second in the Public Relations Students Society of America's Bateman Case Study Competition.

The University of Georgia team finished second in the competition involving 45 universities.

Payne and Cook are 1998 graduates of Lakeside.

Cook, the daughter of Bob and Joyce Cook, graduated magna cum laude this spring from the university. She will begin classes at the university law school in the fall.

Payne, the daughter of Bill and Joy Payne, graduated cum laude this spring. She plans to work in New York City.

Evans student makes ASU dean's list

Richard L. Rogers Jr., a 1999 graduate of Greenbrier High School, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Augusta State University.

He is a junior majoring in communications with a minor in political science.

He is the son of Rick and Mary Rogers of Evans.

Greenbrier student graduates with honors

Katiliya Lisa Mundo received her Honors College Prep diploma with distinction from Greenbrier High School on May 18.

She is a meritorious member of the National Honor Society, a member of the National Beta Club, FBLA, Foreign Language Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Club, and Girl Scouts.

She is vice president of SADD, cofounder and copresident of the Culture Club, and vice president of the MCG Teen Volunteer Board.

She will be attending Freshman College at the University of Georgia this summer, majoring in biology and psychology.

She is the daughter of Jose and Thelma Mundo of Evans.

Greenbrier students perform in all-state chorus

Tiffany Adams and Susannah Clark, both of Greenbrier Middle School, performed in the Georgia Music Educators All-state Chorus Concern and workshops April 25-27 in Savannah.

Tiffany was part of the 260-member all-female Middle School Treble Chorus and Susannah was part of the 260-member Middle School Mixed Chorus.

Evans man graduates from Johnson and Wales

Brantley Douglas Wheatley of Evans graduated magna cum laude May 18 with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Culinary Arts from Johnson and Wales University in Charleston, S.C.

He is the son of Douglas and Brenda Wheatley.
