Balloon cracks windshield

An Evans woman told police someone threw a liquid-filled balloon at her car and cracked her windshield May 17.

Sheila Dianthe Horn, of the 4900 block of Marble Drive, Evans, said she was traveling north on Gibbs Road at Hebbard Way about 4 p.m. when someone in a car traveling in the opposite direction threw a liquid-filled balloon at her car. The balloon struck the windshield, causing it to crack.

Horn said she chased the car the balloon came from but lost the vehicle in the Winslow subdivision.

Man flicks cigarette into nearby car

A Martinez woman reported May 17 that a passenger in a car traveling next to her vehicle threw a cigarette into her car, causing a burn on the back seat.

Leslie Kay Walker, of the 100 block of Hickory Drive, Martinez, said she was traveling west on Columbia Road near Holiday Drive about 5 p.m. when an Oldsmobile Cutlass turned onto Columbia Road a short distance in front of her, almost causing her to hit the car.

She said she blew her horn, and as she passed the other vehicle, the passenger shouted an obscenity and then flicked a cigarette into Walker's car.

The cigarette burned a hole in the back seat.

Two art prints reported stolen

The manager of Washington Commons said someone took two framed art prints the night of May 18.

Paul R. Armstrong Jr., the manager of Washington Commons, said the two prints were valued at $1,400 and $300.

He said they were taken sometime between 9 p.m. April 18 and 7:45 a.m. May 19 from the first floor of the west wing.
