Martinez woman makes dean's list
Amy Williams, a 1999 graduate of Lakeside High School, made the dean's list at Augusta State University for the spring semester.
She is majoring in biology and psychology and plans to attend the Medical College of Georgia.
She is the daughter of Ray and Nancy Williams of Martinez.
Dacula woman graduates from Georgia College
Jessica Lynn Lonergan, of Dacula, Ga., graduated cum laude from Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville on May 4 with a Bachelor of Science degree in education.
She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Lonergan, who are natives of Harlem.
Son of Grovetown man enlists
Rainier W. Elliott, the son of Robin H. Elliott of Grovetown, has enlisted in the U.S. Army as an M2/2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle Systems maintainer.
He attended Everett High School in Everett, Wash., and Everett Community College.

A Martinez woman graduated May 11 from Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C.
Sarah Michelle Bangs, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan F. Bangs of Martinez, received a Bachelor of Science degree in political science.
Pupils named to academy's honor roll
Seven pupils have been named to Columbia County Christian Academy's fourth quarter High Honors honor roll.
They are Katie Klaus in kindergarten; Christian Cox and Jordan Gray in first grade; Wesley Kennedy, Allison Sakata and Daniel Smith in second grade; and Kassie Culling in third grade.
Seven pupils were named to the academy's fourth quarter honor roll.
Spencer Crane, Shelanie Hernandez, and Lindsey Kennedy won the honor in kindergarten.
First grade pupils receiving the honor were Jason Dunaway and Andy Grimaud.
Third grade honor roll pupils were Lana Jiles and Erin Thom.
Appling farm joins Angus Association
S&D Farm in Appling has joined the American Angus Association.
The association is the largest beef cattle registry association in the world. Its computerized records include detailed information on more than 14 million registered Angus.
Two Evans students receive scholarships
Jessica Kelley and Kunal Sharma, 2002 graduates of Evans High School, have been named recipients of $500 scholarships from the Georgia Mining Foundation.
Kelley plans to attend the University of Georgia in the fall, and Sharma plans to attend Georgia Tech.
Evans woman named to dean's list
Elizabeth Ann Lobello was named to the dean's list for the spring term at Young Harris College.
She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Lobello of Evans.
Martinez woman named prefect at college
Jessica A. Morrell has been named a prefect for the 2002-03 academic year at St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa.
Prefects serve as resident advisers for students.
Martinez woman garners award
Melinda Arlene Hollis, of Martinez, has been awarded the Presidential Scholar Award at the University of Georgia for her 4.0 average for the spring semester.
Hollis, who will be a senior next year, is majoring in English education.
She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Gregory Hollis of Martinez and is a 1999 graduate of Evans High School.

Staci Lee Maietta of Martinez graduated magna cum laude from Lander University in Greenwood, S.C.
She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise studies.
Evans graduate named to dean's list at Georgia Tech
David Adkinson, a 1999 graduate of Evans High School, has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Georgia Tech.
He was inducted into Golden Key International and Gamma Beta Phi honor societies in April. He also was elected treasurer of Kappa Kappa Psi and trumpet section leader of the Yellow Jacket Marching Band for the 2002-03 academic year.
Adkinson is a rising senior majoring in molecular biology. He is the son of Larry and Kathy Adkinson of Evans.
Evans woman graduates with honors from MCG
Laura Patterson Cadle, of Evans, graduated magna cum laude from the Medical College of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in occupational therapy.
She was inducted into Alpha Eta Society, the national scholarship society in allied health.
She is the daughter of Fred and Lynn Cadle of Evans.
