Soccer Tryouts

The Columbia County Patriots will hold soccer tryouts for the 2002-03 season for U10 through U14 boys and girls teams starting May 28, and, U14 through U19 boys and girls teams starting June 17. All tryouts are conducted at Patriots Park, and all competitive players in the CSRA are welcome.

Tryout session schedules are as follows: U10-U13 boys and girls - May 28, 29, 30; June 5, 8; all tryout sessions are 6:30 to 8 p.m., except June 8, which are from 9 to 11 a.m.

U14-U19 boys and girls teams - June 17, 18 (U19 and U17 boys); June 18, 19 (U17 and U19 girls); June 18, 19, 24, 25 (U16 boys); June 18, 20, 25 (U15 boys); and, June 25, 26, 27 (U14 boys and U15 girls); all tryout sessions from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Junior golf tourney

The 37th annual North Augusta Country Club/Sertoma Junior Invitational Golf Tournament will be played June 10-13. The 54-hole, medal-play event is limited to the first 100 entries ages 13 through 18 who qualify. The entry fee is $40, which includes a practice round and banquet. Baseball camp

The 15th annual Bulldog Baseball Camp, for players ages 6-15, will be May 27-31 at Harlem High School. Daily camp times are 9 a.m. to noon, and the cost is $45. For more information contact Benjie Moore (556-9136) or Jimmie Lewis (556-6659).

Cheerleading Clinic

The Greenbrier High School cheerleaders are sponsoring a Cheer Clinic, which will be held August 3 at the Greenbrier football field. The clinic is open for children in kindergarten through eighth grade, and the cost is $25 per person, which includes snacks, drinks and a T-shirt. The clinic will cover cheers, sidelines, dances, jumps and stunts. For more information contact Penny Jackson at 650-6040.

Fastpitch players needed

A local 12-and-under fastpitch softball travel team is seeking players. All position players are welcome, but must be willing to travel. For more information or to tryout, contact Jeff at 771-5618 or 868-8485.

Soccer camp

The first annual "Girls Only" 3-day Indoor Summer Soccer Camp for players ages 10-14 will be held May 28-30 at the Greenbrier High School gymnasium. The camp will run daily from 2 to 5 p.m., and the cost is $60 ($40 for each additional child). Players need to bring indoor shoes or tennis shoes. The camp, which will be conducted by Lady Wolfpack coach Alex Heider, will focus on improvement of individual fundamental skills, team concepts and game situations. Basketball camp

Lakeside High School's second annual "Camp of Champions" basketball camp will be May 27-31 at the Lakeside gymnasium. The camp is for players in upcoming grades 2-5 (8:30 a.m. to noon) and grades 6-9 (12:30 to 4 p.m.). There will be an early registration held today from 3 to 4 p.m.; the cost is $55 at early registration or $65 on the first day of camp.
