The U-13 Columbia County Patriots Classic soccer team finished the season with back-to-back victories, a 2-0 shutout of the Augusta Arsenal Gunners and a 6-1 win over the Peachtree City Lazers.
Thanks to their winning record and solid play on the pitch, the Patriots secured a spot in the Georgia Youth Soccer Association's Class II division for the seventh consecutive season.
The team traveled to Wilmington, N.C. this weekend to participate in the Seaside Classic tournament.
Team members include: Brad Powell; Michael Gubosh; Clay Carswell; Chandler Swain; Bobby Zimmerman; William Morawski; Brandon Cumpton; Carter Timmerman; Terry Quarles; Austin Peters; Dallas Dickerson; Andrew Robinson; Sean McClarnon; and, Quinten Wilson. The Patriots are trained and coached by Jeff McClarnon, Curtis Peters and Chris Reynolds.
With his recent selection to the Olympic Development Program's U-13 A Team, Bobby Zimmerman has been recognized as one of Georgia's top 16 players in the U-13 division.
The A team travels to compete in regional tournaments, and for camps, and serves as a feeder program to the United States National U-18 and Juniors teams. Selection to these teams can provide opportunities for advancement to the U.S. National Men's Team.
