Community assistance for Greenbrier lauded

As a representative of the Greenbrier Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organ-ization, I would like to extend the heartfelt thanks of all the faculty, staff, parents and students at Greenbrier to those members of the community who have supported us so generously.

We recently were able to complete construction of an outdoor track and field facility for our physical education department, and we would not have been able to provide this for our students without the assistance of many businesses and individuals who obviously feel strongly about supporting education in their community.

The following people have donated materials, labor, services and sometimes all of the above to provide the track and field for Greenbrier elementary students:

Robert L. Herrington provided a topographic survey; George McDavid of OneSource Development coordinated the project; Design Contractors, Adam Deas, foreman, donated labor; Mike Zapata of Kelly Electric and Georgia Power Co. provided electrical work for the sprinkler system; Columbia County Water and Sewer assisted with the water tap; Carl McGowan of Turf Pride, Inc., consulted on the sprinkler system and assisted with the grassing of the field; Bert Hall of Augusta Turf and Irrigation on the sprinkler system; and of course, Tim Beatty, director of facilities, maintenance and operations for the Columbia County Board of Education, and Superintendent Tommy Price, without whose assistance and support the entire project would have been impossible.

Thanks so much to all who have helped make Greenbrier Elementary a great place for students to learn!
