Crime zones

Here's a list of crimes compiled from reports from the Columbia County Sheriff's Office. The offenses included are:

Homicide

Aggravated assault - an attack for the purpose of placing the victim in fear of harm. A weapon is usually involved.

Battery - physical contact between two people that results in visibleinjury. Simple battery involves no visible injury.

Armed robbery - taking or attempting to take anything of value by force, orthe threat of force or violence. A weapon is usually involved or implied.

Burglary - the unlawful entry into a building or vehicle used as a dwellingto commit a felony or theft.

Theft - includes entering an auto and any taking of another person's property without permission, thefts of bicycles or from carports or yards.

Auto theft - theft of an auto or other vehicle.

Criminal trespass - includes vandalism and criminal damage to buildings andvehicles totaling less than $500.

The districts do not include reports from Harlem and Grovetown. Locations of the crimes are divided into zones from one to 10.
