Under the guise of 'equity,' school board sets enrichment limits

Wow. Even after all the evidence was given in support of enrichment courses (and none given against it) the Columbia County Board of Education still decided it would enhance our childrens education by limiting all enrichment to what they guess might be the best times.

And they did it in the name of equity.

When will the superintendent, principals and some teachers come to the realization that they work for the children, these same children who will be doctors and lawyers and politicians when the educators are at or nearing retirement.

These children will one day be making decisions that will affect our lives. Shouldnt we ensure that they have a quality education based on proven facts and research - not on popular consensus among the principals who settled on a number?

They say principals can write waivers to deviate from this new guideline the Board imposed on our childrens schooling. The new school boards can also write these waivers with principal input. Now, I ask, how many out there would be willing to do this? How many would be willing to say, Hey boss, I know you lobbied really hard for this new set of guidelines, but I just dont want to conform?
