Easter services
The following is a list of some of the special services scheduled by area churches for Easter. All the events take place at the churches unless otherwise indicated.
- Abilene Baptist Church, 3917 Washington Road, Martinez. Portrayal of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m.
- Gospel Water Branch Baptist Church, 703 Furys Ferry Road, Evans. Live re-enactment of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Saturday at 6 p.m.
- Grace Baptist Church, 4798 Hardy-McManus Road, Evans. A Spring Fling featuring rides, games and an Easter egg hunt will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday. On Sunday, the church's Music Ministry will present "Redeemer" at 7 p.m.
- Harlem Baptist Church, 105 W. Milledgeville Road, Harlem. The Easter cantata "Joy Comes in the Morning" will be presented by the adult choir at 7 p.m. A Maundy Thursday communion service will be held at 7 p.m. On Easter Sunday, a sunrise service will be held at 6:30 a.m.
- Wesley United Methodist Church, 825 N. Belair Road, Evans. "Three Days," a production of the combined adult choirs and the Drama Ministry with live orchestra, will be presented Sunday, March 24 at 9:30 and 11 a.m. On Thursday, a special Maundy Thursday service will be held at 6 p.m., with a drop-in communion from 6:30 to 8 p.m. On Friday, a service of special music and worship will be presented by the combined adult choirs with members of the Augusta Symphony. On Sunday, a traditional worship service featuring the combined adult choirs and members of the Augusta Symphony will be held at 8:30 and 11 a.m. A contemporary worship service featuring SpiritStorm will be held at 9:45 a.m. And at 6 p.m. on Sunday a confirmation service featuring the Youth Choir will be held.
- First Baptist Church of Evans, Washington Road at Belair Road, Evans. A Good Friday Service begins at 7 p.m. Friday. The church's Easter Service Celebration will be at 9:45 a.m. and service is at 11 a.m.
- Martinez United Methodist Church, 3614 Washington Road, Martinez. A living dramatization of the Last Supper on Thursday begins at 7:30 p.m. and there is no charge to attend.
- Trinity Baptist Church, Columbia Road, Martinez. The McKameys will be in concertThursday at 7 p.m. A love offering will be taken. For more information, call 863-1222 or 860-8592.
