Spanish effort 'insult' to Hispanic community

Posted: Sunday, March 17, 2002

Editor:

I feel sorry for the Spanish-language experts who are helping you to improve the accuracy of your Spanish translations (Editors note, March 3). It seems that the experts need to go back to school to learn how to write in Spanish.

The articles published lately are inaccurate and offensive. As a sample, Hombre local rescatado has many grammar and spelling errors. The teacher of the year as it was translated into Spanish is an insult! The Columbia Digest in Spanish from March 3 contains hundreds of errors.

The news in Spanish are nothing but an insult to the Spanish language and very offensive to the Spanish community.

The information in Spanish from your newspaper can not and should not be used as a teaching tool!
