Law enforcement academy
The Columbia County Sheriff's Office will be having a Citizen's Law Enforcement Academy beginning Thursday. Participants will learn about the everyday operations of the sheriff's office and will receive firearms training at a shooting range. School council meetings
The Harlem High School Council will meet in the school media center at 7 p.m. on the following dates for the remainder of the 2001-02 school year: Thursday, April 11, May 2, June 6, July 11 and Aug. 1.
Chorus presentation
The Sacred Heart Cultural Center will be sponsoring the All County Elementary Chorus, a John Jacobson Workshop, today at 7 p.m. in the Great Hall of Sacred Heart. For more information, call Sacred Heart at 826-4700.
Advances Excel Class

Spring Carnival
Riverside Elementary School will host their spring carnival Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The carnival will be at Riverside Elementary on Hardy McManus Road. There will be a silent auction, crafts, raffle and more. The event will be open to the public.
Neighborhood watch
The Columbia County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with Oakbrook Subdivision, will be holding an Neighborhood Watch meeting Thursday, at 7 p.m. The meeting will be at Baker Woods Baptist Church, 470 Furys Ferry Road in Martinez.
Lakeside silent auction
The Lakeside High School Show Choir is having a silent auction and talent show Friday, at the Lakeside High School Auditorium. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for auction bids. The show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $5 or at the door for $6. For more information, call 854-0591.
Spring Fling
The Martinez-Evans Rotary Club will host its annual Spring Fling on Saturday, at 7 p.m. at Savannah Rapids Pavilion. The evening will include hors d'oeuvre, dancing, auctions, $1,000 grand prize raffle, and a cash bar. Tickets are $25 each and are available by calling 854-0407. All proceeds benefit local charities.
March meeting
The Augusta Genealogical Society will hold its March meeting entitled "Heroes of The Augusta Canal" on Thursday, at 7 p.m. It will be at the Augusta Museum of History, 6th and Reynolds Street, in Augusta. Dr. Ed Cashin will be the speaker. AGS members, guests, and the general public are invited to attend at no charge.
Family Health Fair
MCG HealthCare and the American Red Cross Presents the 18th Annual Family Health Fair on Saturday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Gymnasium on Walton Way.
