'Equity' on hold, trustees need to study further
I last wrote to defend and praise the work of the Comprehensive Elementary Curric-ulum Committee. As a member of this committee I wanted everyone to know how this committee had worked to establish equity in time and curriculum issues and that our intentions were not to eliminate foreign language or any other programs from any particular school. I stand by that.

The Lakeside High School Show Choir is having a silent auction and talent show March 8, at the Lakeside High School Auditorium. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for auction bids. The show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $5 or at the door for $6. For more information, call 854-0591.
Columbia newsmakers
Gail Morrison Wheatley, daughter of Lee and Marilyn Wheatley of Evans was crowned Miss Georgia State University on Feb. 9, 2002. She will represent Georgia State University in her first-ever appearance at the Miss Georgia Pageant. Gail also won the talent award. She is a 1998 honor graduate of Evans High and is currently attending Georgia State University where she plans to graduate in May.

Get up and go
Reading Success, Inc. will be hosting a seminar for parents who have or believe they have a child with Attention Deficit Disorder on Saturday, March 2, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The seminar will be held at Augusta State University's New Science Building, room W1002.
