Local golf pro honored

David Usry, head golf professional at North Augusta Country Club, was recently nominated for the Junior Golf Leader Award by his fellow Carolinas Section professionals.

The award is designed to recognize a PGA professional who is a leader in junior golf, reflects the qualities and ideals of those who work with our nation's youth, and provides opportunities and experiences for juniors to learn to play golf.

In making their nomination for this award, professionals use the following guidelines: contributions to junior programs and the events in the PGA Sections, including service as chairman or a member of the Junior Golf Committee; involvement in the promotion and development of junior golf at the club level and within the community; support of PGA junior golf programs; overall image, service and leadership in the area of junior golf; overall integrity and acceptance by junior golfers as a person of outstanding character.
