ADD seminar
Reading Success, Inc. will be hosting a seminar for parents who have or believe they have a child with Attention Deficit Disorder on Saturday, March 2, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The seminar will be held at Augusta State University's New Science Building, room W1002. Spring Fling
The Martinez-Evans Rotary Club will host its annual Spring Fling, Saturday, March 9, at 7 p.m. at Savannah Rapids Pavilion. The evening will include hors d'oevres, dancing, auctions, $1,000 grand prize raffle, and a cash bar. Tickets are $25 each and are available by calling 854-0407. All proceeds benefit local charities.
Church yard sale

The Evans Best Barbecue Showdown and craft show will be held on March 16, in the Doctor's Hospital Field in Columbia County behind the Evans Kroger. The Junior League of Augusta will hold its 50th Annual Attic Sale on Saturday, March 9 from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. at The Hippodrome on the Aiken-Augusta Highway in North Augusta. March meeting
The Augusta Genealogical Society will hold its March meeting entitled "Heroes of The Augusta Canal" on Thursday, March 7, at 7 p.m. It will be held at the Augusta Museum of History, 6th and Reynolds Street, in Augusta. Community meeting
The Springlakes Community Association in conjunction with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office will be hosting a Neighborhood Watch Meeting at the Springlakes Clubhouse on Tuesday, March 19 at 7 p.m. Various safety issues will be discussed. All Springlakes residents are encouraged to attend.
Grant applications
The Junior League of Augusta is now taking applications for the Arts Endowment Fund. Applications must be an organization whose primary purpose is to promote the Arts in the Augusta community. Homeschool sale
Homeschool for YOU, Inc., is sponsoring a Homeschool Used Curriculum and Book Sale on Saturday, March 30, from 10 a.m. until noon at Christ's Sanctified Holy Church, 136 Belair Road in Martinez. Parent workshops
Girls Inc. will present a series of informative parent workshops that touch on important issues that affect our youth. The three workshops are: "The Blooming Adolescent" on Tuesday, March 12; "Can We Tal? About Drugs" on Tuesday, March 19; "Violence Amongst Our Youth" on Tuesday, March 26. The cost of each workshop is $3 or $7 for three part series. The workshops will be held at Augusta State University's New Science Building, Rm. W1002, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Pizza will be proved from 6 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.

Gymnastics session
The Family Y's recreational gymnastics classes are scheduled in a nine-week session, March 11-17. The session features classes for toddlers through teens, and classes are held once a week at the Wheeler Gymnastics Center, 3532 Wheeler Road. For more information call 738-6678.
Baseball registration
Registration for The Family Y's coed Youth Baseball program for children 4-11 years old will be March 25-Apr. 5, at Wheeler Center, 3532 Wheeler Road. Kid's safety day
The Family Y and the American Red Cross of Augusta are sponsoring a Kids' Safety Day on Saturday, March 23, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at The Family Y, Wheeler Center, on Wheeler Road. The event spotlights safety tips for home and community pools, lakes, boating, biking and fire. It is free and open to the public. Bunny Bob
An underwater egg hunt open to children 6-12 years old is the featured activity at The Family Y's "Bunny Bob", on Saturday, March 30, from noon until 3 p.m., at the Wheeler Indoor Aquatics Center, 3532 Wheeler Road. Fees are $2 for Gold members, $3 for Silver members, $4 for Bronze members and $5 for non-members. Children under five are admitted for free. Participants must bring swimsuits and towels. Test-taking seminar
Reading Success Inc. will be hosting a test-taking seminar on Thursday, March 7, at 7 p.m. The seminar will be held at Augusta State University's New Science Building, room W1002. Reach to Recovery
The American Cancer Society is holding certification training for new volunteers in the Reach to Recovery program. If you are a breast cancer survivor, the American Cancer Society would love for you to become involved.

Monte Carlo Night
The Augusta Junior Woman's Club will be hosting their third Annual Monte Carlo Night on Saturday, Mar. 2, at 7 p.m. at the Boat House Pavilion, 101 Riverfront Drive. Kindergarten registration
Kindergarten registration in Columbia County is scheduled for Apr. 1 through Apr. 5 from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Children should register at the elementary school in designated school zones in which they reside. For exact zoning information, contact the Superintendent's office at 541-0650.
Free tutoring
Tutors are now available to work one-on-one with adults who want to improve their minimal reading skills. There is no charge for tutorial services and workbook materials. Law enforcement academy
The Columbia County Sheriff's Office will be having a Citizen's Law Enforcement Academy beginning March 7. Participants will learn about the everyday operations of the sheriff's office and will receive firearms training at a shooting range. The National Kidney Foundation of Georgia's is seeking donations of old vehicles to be sold as a fund-raiser.

The Columbia County Chapter of The Compassionate Friends offers grief support for families suffering the loss of a child. They meet every second Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at Philadelphia United Methodist Church, 780 Old Louisville Road, Harlem.

Volunteers needed
The Court Appointed Special Advocate Program is looking for volunteers age 21 and older to help advocate for abused and neglected children in the juvenile court system.
Volunteers work alongside the Department of Family and Children Services and other agencies to protect children who have been placed in foster care. Volunteers need no experience and will be provided specialized training. For more information, call 737-4631.
Fencing classes offered
The Augusta Fencers Club is now offering two new classes in beginning foil. The first - a youth class for those 11 to 14 - meets from 6-7 p.m. Fridays. Historical donations needed
The City of Grovetown Museum Board of Directors is seeking donations of military memorabilia with ties to Fort (Camp) Gordon for a special display depicting the historical relationship between the fort and Grovetown.
Photographs, documents, uniforms, personal military equipment, medals and copies of news article are needed. Donated items will be displayed in two glass cases which were purchased through a grant from the Fort Gordon Officers Wives Club. Free mulch offered
