Valentine movie event

A Valentine's Dive-In Movie event will be offered by the Family Y from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday at the Wheeler Center indoor pool on Wheeler Road. Participants will swim in a heated pool and watch a big screen classic movie. Cost is $3 for gold members, $4 for silver members, $5 for bronze members and $6 for nonmembers. Arbor Day event

A tree will be planted as part of Beautify a Park on Arbor Day at 9 a.m. Fridayat Mistletoe State Park. For more information, call 541-0321.

Open house registration

Martinez Baptist Hearts and Hands Christian Day School will hold an open house registration on Tuesday, Feb. 26, from 3 to 6 p.m. Enrollment will be for K-2 through eighth grade for the 2002-2003 school year.

Manna Truck Distribution

The Golden Harvest Food Bank will hold its Manna Truck Distribution for those in need Saturday. The truck will be at the Dream Center, 5135 Wrightsboro Road in Grovetown, at 9 a.m. and at Wesley United Methodist Church, 825 North Belair Road in Evans, at 10:15 a.m. Anyone needing fresh produce is welcome.

Reach to Recovery

The American Cancer Society is holding certification training for new volunteers in the Reach to Recovery program. If you are a breast cancer survivor, the American Cancer Society would love for you to become involved.

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer may call the American Cancer Society at 731-9900. Training will be at the Medical College of Georgia on from 8:30 a.m to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 16. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Gardening seminar

The Columbia County Cooperative Extension Service will sponsor a free seminar on organic gardening at the Savannah Rapids Pavilion in Martinez, on Thursday, Feb. 28, from 10 a.m. till noon.

Legal help offered

Free legal help will be offered to senior citizens in Columbia County on Tuesday and Feb. 20. The first session will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Grovetown Senior Center on West Robinson Street. The second will take place from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Feb. 20 at Columbia County's Council on Aging on Euchee Creek Drive in Grovetown. For more information, call 721-2327.

Georgia forestry advice
