Is Tommy Price quietly trying to make Columbia County children illiterate? At the last Columbia County Board of Education meeting, with very little information, a majority of the Board members tentatively voted for a resolution that would essentially remove a teaching position at six Columbia County elementary schools and would provide a teaching position at only two others.
Not only does the amount taken not equal the amount given back, it would cheat our children out of part of their enrichment education - physical education, art and music! The teaching position removed adds up to more than one teacher and more than one teaching program at each affected school.
The state of Georgia has already removed our Spanish program from our elementary schools; now, at Price's bidding, will the board unwittingly take the rest of our childrens well-rounded education from them without benefit of sufficient investigation into the matter - especially without considering how the tax-paying parents of the children feel about it?
Tuesday, the board is supposed to vote this resolution into existence. This will happen if Columbia County parents remain silent.
The parents of the children who attend Evans Elementary join our counterparts at the five other schools who want the board to hear our message loud and clear: Leave our school alone! Vote "No on Tuesday! ...
