Book sale
The Friends of the Columbia County Libraries will have a book sale from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Gibbs Library on North Belair Road.
Mother/daughter activities
The Family Y will be featuring two mother/daughter activities Wednesday in recognition of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. A mother/daughter soccer game will take place from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. at the Family Y track on Wheeler Road. A mother/daughter water aerobics class is scheduled from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Wheeler Center's indoor pool. For more information, call 738-6678.
Arbor Day event
Beautify a Park on Arbor Day will take place at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Mistletoe State Park. The public is invited to attend and plant a tree at the park. For more information, call 541-0321.
School auction/supper
Greenbrier High School will have a silent auction and band spaghetti supper Saturday. The silent auction will be from 6 to 8 p.m., and the supper will be served from 4 to 8 p.m. A live auction also will be offered from 8 to 8:30 p.m. Items up for bid include an Andy Jones vehicle, a hot tub, golf cart, OMNI Health Club membership and more.
Fire department meeting
The Leah Volunteer Fire Department will have a special meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at station No. 2 on Burks Mountain Road. The public is invited.
School council meetings
The Harlem High School Council will meet in the school media center at 7 p.m. on the following dates for the remainder of the 2001-02 school year: Feb. 7, March 7, April 11, May 2, June 6, July 11 and Aug. 1.
Georgia forestry advice
The Georgia Forestry Commission is offering advice to residents on whether their homes are in the line of fire. The service is particularly aimed at rural residents. For more information, call Chief Ranger Steve Abbott at 556-3962.
Children's story time
A story time for all ages is offered at 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays at Euchee Creek Library.
Radio licensing classes
The Amateur Radio Club of Augusta will offer licensing classes beginning Monday in the first-floor classroom at Doctors Hospital.
