School auction/supper
Greenbrier High School will be having a silent auction and band spaghetti supper Feb. 2. The silent auction will be from 6 to 8 p.m. with the supper being served from 4 to 8 p.m. A live auction also will be offered from 8 to 8:30 p.m. Items up for bid include an Andy Jones vehicle, a hot tub, golf cart, OMNI Health Club membership and more.
Retired educators meeting
The Columbia County Retired Educators will be meeting at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 29 at Biggs Library. The meeting is open to all retired educators. Elizabeth Donsback, the director of education at the Augusta Museum, will be the guest speaker. Those attending are asked to bring their completed volunteer hours forms. Financial planning meeting
The Christian Ladies Fellowship of First Baptist Church in Evans will meet to discuss the topic "Your Financial Future" from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Jan. 31. Terrorist attack seminar
Two seminars on "Community Planning for Terrorist Attacks" will be offered at 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 29 at University Hospital. There is no cost, but space is limited. To register, call 774-2888.
Church presentation
Dr. John C. Maxwell, founder of The Injoy Group in Atlanta, will be speaking at 10:30 a.m. today at Bible Cathedral on Fury's Ferry Road.
Theatre presentation
Columbia County's community theatre, Stage III, will open its 2002 season with Neil Simon's comedy "The Odd Couple" on Feb. 7. The play also will be performed at 7 p.m. on Feb. 8 and 9 as a dinner theatre catered by French Market Grille West. A Sunday matinee will be offered at 3 p.m. Feb. 10. Law enforcement academy
The Columbia County Sheriff's Office will be having a Citizen's Law Enforcement Academy beginning March 7. Participants will learn about the everyday operations of the sheriff's office and will receive firearms training at a shooting range. Mother/daughter activities
The Family Y will be featuring two mother/daughter activities on Feb. 6 in recognition of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. A mother/daughter soccer game will take place from 5:30-6:15 p.m. at The Family Y track on Wheeler Road.
