Cooler, fireworks found at school
A cooler containing several fireworks was found on fire in the parking lot of Lakeside High School on Jan. 9.
Columbia County sheriff's Deputy Keith J. Warner said he noticed the cooler in the school's west parking lot at 7 p.m. while conducting a patrol check, records stated.
Warner said the fireworks were exploding. Martinez Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire, which caused a small area of dirt to become charred.
Spare ribs swiped
Approximately 15 pounds of pork spare ribs were reported stolen at a Martinez restaurant on January 10.
Jennifer Christine Moen, manager of the Golden Corral on Bobby Jones Expressway, told police the ribs had been placed out to defrost in the business' kitchen, reports showed. The meat was taken sometime between 10:15 and 10:30 p.m.
School bus damaged
A Martinez Elementary School bus had one of its windows shattered by someone between Jan. 2 and 4.
According to department reports, the damage was discovered by William Emory Logue, a bus supervisor, in the parking lot of the school.
Logue said it appeared that something had been thrown through the window. The damage was estimated at $350. The case is considered interference with government property.
