Editor:
Im writing this to express my heartfelt gratitude for the help we received when our boat sank at Lake Thurmond. There was only one other boater at the dam at that time. Columbia County Sheriffs Deputy Bobby Bradford was patrolling the dam at the time. He noticed our distress and signaled the other boater to our aid. He also made calls for other assistance. Sheriff Clay Whittle should be honored to have such an outstanding man on his force.
To the boater who brought us to shore, many thanks. You saved us and kept this from being a disaster. Sorry, I did not get your name. To Columbia County Dive Team Chief Mike Chambers who assisted getting our boat to shore and making sure we were all OK, thank you. To the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources sergeant who assisted us in getting to the boat dock, we thank you and may God bless you. To the man from Mistletoe who retrieved our things from the water, pulled our boat to the dock and stayed with us, thank you.
I do not wish to show partiality, but if it had not been for Deputy Bradford this could have been a great disaster. Everyone involved was truly professional and helpful; our many thanks again. In a time when all you hear about is bad things, I would like to express some kindness.
