'Hype and hoopla' drives elementary foreign language idea
There is a need for someone to justify all the hype and hoopla over teaching Spanish at the elementary or even the middle school level. A trial in one middle school was abandoned in the past.
Whose idea is consolidation? City citizens should have say
It might not be a good idea for Harlem and Grovetown to lose their autonomy. It would be logical for them to be happy to have no city taxes and have the rest of the county support their infrastructures. How-ever, would the other citizens of Columbia County be happy to pick up their tab?

The next meeting of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will be held January 10th at 7:30 p.m. at the Port Authority Building by the Augusta Boat House. The Auxiliary has new leadership: Norman Daniels, who recently relieved Dr. Wade Hamer as Flotilla Commander, and Kimberly Dailey, who assumed the job as Vice Commander. The Coast Guard Auxiliary is charged with teaching boating safety and free boat inspection for the CSRA.
