Hoop Shoot Competition

The Augusta Lodge of Elks #205 competition for the 30th annual Elks Hoop Shoot will be held at Murphy Middle School in Augusta on Saturday, Jan. 12. The national free-throw shooting contest for children ages eight through 13 starts at 9 a.m.

Each contestant will have 25 shots at the hoop. The boy and girl with the best score from each age group will advance to the Northeast District event, which will be held on Feb. 9 in Eatonton, Ga.

To qualify for entry in the local competition, youngsters must be winners of a "School Contest" within the elementary or middle schools of Aiken, Columbia or Richmond counties.
