School officials set rules for playground use

At a combined meeting of the Grovetown School Trustees, the school principal and city of Grovetown officials, the following rules and regulations governing the use of playground area were established and will be effective immediately:

1. No one is allowed to remain on the playground after 5 p.m.

2. No one is allowed on the playground on Sunday except between the hours of 1 and 5 p.m.

3. On Saturday nights "Teen Town" members are to remain on the rear of the school where the community house is located. After activities adjourn, everyone is to leave the school ground immediately.

4. Anyone who violates regulations or abuses school property will be suspended from the privileges of the playground area for an indefinite period of time.

Doziers hold a GOP Party

Harlem was host to the Republicans for our county Tuesday night, Dec. 8.

A large turnout greeted the surprised Mark Roper who received plaque honoring him for being the first chairman of a Republican Party in our county. Also for carrying the county for the GOP in the last election.

Mr. and Mrs. Perry Dozier were hosts for the event. They prepared a most delicious Christmas season supper, which was enjoyed by all.

Bob McCarthy of Augusta was a guest and was called on to give a talk on what our neighbor county of Richmond was doing to advance the Republican Conservative views in his county.

Balloon goes up - gets shot down

Somebody shot down the five-foot helium filled balloon put up by Martinez Cleaners for their grand opening last week.

Put up Thursday morning, it was aloft but a few hours when short down by a pellet gun or a .22 rifle, according to store owner Earl Allen.

"We got a lot of publicity out of it, though," Allen said. "People were talking about that thing all weekend."

New Years party slated by teens

Martinez Teen Town is sponsoring a New Year's Eve party at the Circle "T" Ranch in Evans.

To start at 8 p.m., the affair will be emceed by Danny O'Shea, the WBBQ Good Guy, and will break up at 1 a.m. "The Rivierias" will play for the dance.

Dress is casual or western. Advance tickets can be obtained from any council member for $1 stag or $1.50 drag. Prices are advanced by 50 cents if purchased at the door.
