Fantasy of lights display
The Fantasy of Light drive-through display is being offered to the public through Dec. 24 at Pendleton King Park on Troupe Street. It is open from 6-9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 6-10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. The event includes more than 50,000 miniature lights and 110 light displays. All proceeds from the event go to the local Easter Seals.
Georgia forestry advice
The Georgia Forestry Commission is offering advice to residents on whether their homes are in the line of fire. The service is particularly aimed at rural residents. For more information, call Chief Ranger Steve Abbott at 556-3962.
Puppet shows offered
Ben and Keeter's Puppets will be at local libraries during the Christmas holidays. The show, called "Christmas Magic," will be performed at the following locations and times: 10:30 a.m. Dec. 19 at Wallace Brach Library; and 10:30 a.m. Dec. 21 at Friedman's Library.
School Christmas concert
Brookwood Elementary School will be performing its annual Christmas concert at 2:15 p.m. Dec. 19 at the school. The concert will be free and will feature 25 soloists from all grade levels. Mistletoe Jam
The third annual Mistletoe Jam at Mistletoe State Park in Appling will take place Jan. 19 and 20. The event will be a gathering of mountain dulcimer players and also will include autoharp, fiddle, guitar and other instrument performers. The only charge is $2 for parking. Club member sought
The Harlem Woman's Club is accepting new members. The club supports local communities and Columbia County's schools. It is a sponsor of the Star Student Award, the Citizen of the Year Award and the arts program. Meetings are at 4 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month at the Woman's Club in Harlem. Historical donations needed
The City of Grovetown Museum Board of Directors is seeking donations of military memorabilia with ties to Fort (Camp) Gordon for a special display depicting the historical relationship between the fort and Grovetown.
Photographs, documents, uniforms, personal military equipment, medals and copies of news article are needed. Donated items will be displayed in two glass cases which were purchased through a grant from the Fort Gordon Officers Wives Club.
