Puppet shows offered
Ben and Keeter's Puppets will be at local libraries during the Christmas holidays. The show, called "Christmas Magic," will be performed at the following locations and times: 7 p.m. Thursday at Gibbs Library; 10:30 a.m. Dec. 19 at Wallace Brach Library; and 10:30 a.m. Dec. 21 at Friedman's Library.
Help offered
The Columbia County Chapter of The Compassionate Friends offers grief support for families suffering the loss of a child. They meet every second Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at Philadelphia United Methodist Church, 780 Old Louisville Road, Harlem.

Volunteers needed
The Court Appointed Special Advocate Program is looking for volunteers age 21 and older to help advocate for abused and neglected children in the juvenile court system.
Volunteers work alongside the Department of Family and Children Services and other agencies to protect children who have been placed in foster care. Volunteers need no experience and will be provided specialized training. For more information, call 737-4631.
Vehicle donation
The National Kidney Foundation of Georgia's is seeking donations of old vehicles to be sold as a fund-raiser.

Foster parents needed
The Columbia County Department of Family and Children Services is looking for potential foster parents. All those interested in becoming foster parents or with questions are asked to call Cindy Taylor at 541-1640.

Free mulch offered
The City of Thomson is offering free mulch to all interested farmers, businesses and residents. The city grinds all of its yard trimmings and collects the mulch on a quarterly basis. Loading assistance will be provided at a mulch pickup site on request. For more information, call (706) 595-1781.

Fantasy of lights display
The Fantasy of Light drive-through display is being offered to the public through Dec. 24 at Pendleton King Park on Troupe Street. Open times are 6 to 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 6 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. The event includes more than 50,000 miniature lights and 110 light displays. All proceeds from the event go to the local Easter Seals.
Historical donations needed
The City of Grovetown Museum Board of Directors is seeking donations of military memorabilia with ties to Fort (Camp) Gordon for a special display depicting the historical relationship between the fort and Grovetown.
Photographs, documents, uniforms, personal military equipment, medals and copies of news article are needed. Donated items will be displayed in two glass cases which were purchased through a grant from the Fort Gordon Officers Wives Club. The third annual Mistletoe Jam at Mistletoe State Park in Appling will take place Jan. 19 and 20. The Harlem Woman's Club is accepting nominations for its 2001 Citizen of the Year Award. Augusta Players auditions
The Augusta Players will have auditions for a production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella at 3 p.m. Dec. 9 and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Augusta Players Warehouse on Walton Way.
