Representative receives award

Georgia State Rep. Ben Harbin (R-Martinez) recently received the Outstanding Young Alumni Award from Georgia Military College in Milledgeville.

Harbin was elected to the House of Representatives in 1994, and currently serves on the Appropriations Committee, the Legislative and Congressional Reapportionment Committee and is the ranking minority member on the Insurance Committee.

He and wife, Hope, have two children: Caitlin, 8, and Hampton, 4.

Employee of the month

Carolyn Daniel, a Columbia County resident, was recently named the employee of the month for November at the Augusta Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Daniel is the secretary for the Health Information Management and Revenue Administration Department. She is an active member of West Acres Baptist Church and a devoted care giver for an elderly family member.
