Decoration contest winners

The sixth-grade homeroom class of Sandra Atkins at Evans Middle School recently was chosen as the winner of a door-decorating contest as part of Red Ribbon Week. The class also was the countywide winner. Runner-ups were Glenda Atkins' eighth-grade class and Rosemary Anderson's sixth-grade homeroom.

Collegiate scholar

Sean Coleman of Evans was recently accepted into The National Society of Collegiate Scholars and was honored during a ceremony at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Coleman is a graduate of Augusta Christian School and was the 2000 class salutatorian. He is the son of Michael and Winifred Coleman and is a sophomore at Georgia Tech, where he was named to the dean's list during his freshman year.

Construction award recipient

John Martin, a Columbia County resident and project administrator with R.W. Allen & Associates, was recently presented with a Challenge Award for his commitment to the construction of Woodlands at Cobbleston Moultrie Nursing Home.
