The following accounts were taken from reports filed with the Columbia County Sheriff's office.

Defecation reported

An office manager at a Martinez dentist office told police Nov. 12 that someone defecated on the business's parking lot and left toilet paper at the scene.

Dawn H. Leopard, a worker at J. Perry Davis Dentist Office on Columbia Road, said someone defecated on the dentist's parking space, which is located at the rear of the building, department records showed.

The case is considered criminal trespass.

Puppies stolen

An Appling man told police Nov. 13 that someone stole seven Pitt Bull puppies from his yard.

John Henry Geter of the 3700 block of Burns Road said someone apparently took the puppies, which were five weeks old, sometime between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Nov. 5, according to department reports.

The dogs were valued at $2,100. A short time later, Geter said, an anonymous woman called him to say that she might know who had stolen the puppies.

Dump truck vandalism

Two dump trucks were reported vandalized on Nov. 12 at a Martinez construction site.

Steven Geray Smithson of J&S construction of Evans said someone broke a driver's side door, both tail lights and poured dirt into the motor of one of the trucks, reports showed. The other truck had motor oil poured inside it, its windshield wipers damaged, its spark plug wires broken and its left side cab window shattered.

The incident occurred on Spalding Court, which is a construction site for new homes. The case is being investigated for criminal damage to property in the second degree.

Government building theft

More than $150 in cash and $200 in checks were stolen from the Columbia County Health Department between Nov. 8 and 9, according to a sheriff's office report.

The missing funds at the office, located at the 600 block of Government Center Way, were reported missing by Sylvia Trent Williams, a nurse supervisor, records showed. She told police that the checks and money were inside a file cabinet located inside a coat closet.
