Blanchard Stadium isn't the only named field

Barry Paschals Sunday, Oct. 21 column, Let money talk in school names, contains one slight error.

He stated: There is only one school facility in Columbia County named after an individual: Blanchard Stadium at Evans High School...

Columbia Middle School was originally the countys black high school. Charles Lazenby was its principal. On Oct. 16, 1984, the football field was named Charles Lazenby Field for his 32 years of leadership and dedicated service to the Columbia County school system. He was principal of the school from 1953-1981 and director of personnel from 1981 until his retirement in 1984.

I fully support the naming of the baseball field at Greenbrier High School after Terry Holder. He brought baseball prominence to the county where it continues to thrive. The man won eight baseball state championships in just a little over 10 years. Thats something not many, if any, can claim.
