The third-grade students of Brookwood Elementary School will be presenting the musical "Brookwood Sings America" at 2:15 and 7 p.m. Nov. 8 and 9 a.m. Nov. 9 at the school. Democratic Party gathering
The Democratic Party of Columbia County will have a covered dish supper at 7 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Fairington Clubhouse on Georgia Hereford Farm Road. Holiday food drive
An Evans orthodontist, Dr. Steven Powell, is once again sponsoring his annual food drive to benefit Columbia County Cares. Donations of non-perishable grocery items, such as canned fruits, vegetables or meats, laundry detergent, grits, peanut butter or dish soap, will be accepted 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at his office, located at 625 Ronald Regan Drive near the Evans Post Office. Veteran's Day celebration
Lakeside Middle School will be having a Veteran's Day celebration of America's heroes at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 9. Family members who are veterans or are active service members will be spotlighted. A reception also will follow and service memorabilia will be on display with patriotic music playing. The public is invited to attend.
School book fair
Lakeside Middle School will have its annual book fair from 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 8-15 in the school's media center. Students, teachers and parents are invited to come in and browse through a wide selection of traditional children's books and new works by popular authors and illustrators.
