There's more to story of out-of-county students

Editor:

Justen Wonderlys accusation that some students attending Columbia County schools dont live in the county based on their license tag is short-sighted (letter, Schools should enforce zones, Oct. 24).

Many Columbia County parents work for companies or own companies that have offices located in neighboring counties. These employees/owners drive company-owned automobiles, and therefore have license tags other than the county where the drivers reside.

I have three children enrolled at Stevens Creek Elementary school and have been an active parent at the school for five years. I am not aware of any student who has received the benefits of our school who did not physically live in our school zone.

The author may want to visit some Richmond County schools in the mornings as parents drop their children off for school. I am sure she will see a few Columbia County automobile license tags.

No standards are being lowered and these people are not stealing from us. Get off your high horse, Ms. Wonderly.
