The following accounts were taken from reports filed with the Columbia County Sheriff's office.

Dogs shot

An Appling man told police Oct. 12 that someone apparently shot his two dogs with a gun.

Jeffrey Glenn McNair of the 500 block of Oakwood Pointe said he found his labrador retriever shot in the stomach and his bloodhound shot in the rear leg, according to reports. The dogs were taken to a veterinarian and were treated.

The case is considered cruelty to animals.

Chemicals/fuel stolen

Several gallons of oil torch fuel and muriatic acid were stolen along with an unknown amount of propane gas from an Evans woman's house Oct. 14, according to department records.
