On Flowing Wells Road recently, I watched as a car with Richmond County plates turned to discharge a pupil at Martinez Elemen-tary. Probably just moved to Columbia County, I thought.
Later that day I was talking to a friend who drops their child off at Stevens Creek Elementary and re-counted the story. I was told that cars with Richmond tags and South Carolina tags drop off kids at that school every day, as well as at Riverside Middle School. I inquired at the Columbia County Board of Education about this, but my call to the official in charge was not returned.
Does no one care about these childrens parents using up Columbia County resources, i.e. tax dollars? Sixty-70 percent of our property tax bills are for education. These people are stealing from us.
... If the schools where these parents live are sub-par, they should move, and help make our schools better by paying taxes. They are receiving something for nothing and lowering our standards in the process.
