Editor:
After I read Barry Paschals column in the Oct. 7 Columbia County News-Times (Sorry, but we arent worth attack), I want to ask President Andrew Jackson a question: How do you secure your rights of persons and of property, liberty of conscience and of the press, if your country is the target of attack, your normal life is in danger?
Paschal, please wake up from being redneck and a fool.
Augusta is not worth attack? Then the Twin Towers in New York arent worthy of being attacked. Dont forget, Augusta is part of the United States. We are all Americans.
Being another nationality, I could not understand the meaning of redneck; I understand now. At the time the whole country is put on alert after being attacked by terrorists, people here in Augusta try to fool themselves because we are located far away from New York City. What happens if the terrorist group travels around our country, putting biochemicals in all the dams, lakes and rivers nationwide? What happens if the Savannah River Site becomes a target, and the nuclear material starts to leak in this area?
Terrorists brainwash their 5-year-olds to kill Americans. There are millions of people worldwide who hate Americans.
Wake up; we are not living in paradise. Better prevention and security are needed to save our lives. Tight security is needed everywhere in our country, including our Augusta, because we are part of America.
I am glad somebody checked those people at the Clarks Hill Dam, so I can use the tap water to cook the food for my family and my children.
Instead of spreading such bad comments in the local newspaper, Paschal should thank and support the security or local police for their action. Or maybe he should go to Afghanistan to see some truth.
Please publish more comments like the one from John Greenlee (letter, Oct. 7, Young protesters clueless; terrorists underestimated U.S.).
