Study program participant

Kathryn Ashley Dickson of Evans has been chosen to participate in Furman University's study abroad program in Versailles, France this fall. She will be among 15 Furman students to attend and will return to the U.S. in mid-December. Dickson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Dickson.

Scholarship recipient

Daniel Lassiter, a 2000 graduate of Westminster Preparatory School, recently received an honorary John Harvard Scholarship in recognition of his academic record at Harvard University. Lassiter is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Isaac Lassiter of Augusta and is a sophomore at Harvard.

Dean's list

Mandy Flanders, daughter of Jack and Jane Flanders of Evans, has been named to the dean's list for the summer semester at Piedmont College.

Merit semi-finalist

Augusta Prep Senior Kevin Brown, son of Dr. and Mrs. Alan Brown of Martinez, has been named National Merit Semifinalist. Officials of National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced the names of approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 47th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. The semifinalists now have an opportunity to continue in the competition for 8,000 Merit Scholarship awards worth over $32 million that will be offered next spring. The nationwide pool of semifinalists was selected based on scores on the PSAT, which was taken in the junior year.

Commended Student

Augusta Prep Senior, Danielle Brudi, has been named Commended Student in the 2002 National Merit Scholarship Program. Commended students placed among the top five per cent of more than one million students who entered the 2002 Merit Program by taking the 2000 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Danielle is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Brudi of Martinez.
