The following accounts were taken from reports filed with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

American flag stolen

A Harlem man told police Sept. 18 that someone had stolen an American flag from his front yard.

Kenneth Charles Lack of the 6000 block of Wrightsboro Road said he had placed the 3-foot-by-5-foot flag beside the road in front of his house. He said it must have been taken between 8 and 11 a.m. The case is considered theft by taking.

County fence damaged

Someone rammed a vehicle into two fences that surround the Betty Branch Lift Station of the Columbia County Water and Sewerage System on Sept. 19.

Sammy Landrum, an assistant supervisor for the department, said the two chain link fences at the site in the 600 block of Deerwood Way had $300 in damages, reports showed.

The case is being investigated for interference with government property.
