Soap box derby rally

A pumpkin soap box derby rally will take place at 9 a.m. Oct. 6 at Fort Gordon. Weigh-ins for the race will begin at 7 a.m. The derby will include three categories: stock division for those age 9-16, super stock division for those age 9-16 and a masters division for those age 11-16. Real estate seminars offered

Two seminars focusing on the real estate industry will be offered by the CSRA Apartment Association Oct. 17 and 18 at Holiday Inn West with Toni Blake as the speaker. The first seminar, ''Signed, Sealed and Devoted,'' will take place from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Oct. 17 at a cost of $50. The second class, ''There's No Business Like Our Business,'' will be offered from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 18 with registration at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $100, which includes a lunch. Reservations are required by Oct. 5 and can be made by calling 798-0805.

Ladies Bible study

A ladies Bible study is now being offered at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays at Westside Baptist Church on Flowing Wells Road. The class, titled ''A Woman's Heart, God's Dwelling Place,'' is open to all visitors. For more information, call 868-5982.

Fire safety day

A ''Fire Safety Days'' event will be offered to first-graders from Richmond, Columbia and Aiken counties on Sept. 18 and 19 at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center. The event will be sponsored by the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital and the Southeastern Firefighters' Burn Foundation. There will be educational sessions for children and presentations about fire and burn safety. Firefighters, nurses, clowns and other professionals also will attend.

Bike ride offered

The Rotary Club of Columbia County will be having a bike ride from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Harlem Woman's Club to benefit ''The John's Award'' program. To preregister for the event, call David Titus at 860-2205 or Richard Swann at 736-2092.

Church music event

Recording artist Jami Smith will be on hand to lead a praise service at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 5 at In Focus Church. The church is located on Old Evans Road. For more information, call 868-7788.

Booster club meeting

The Greenbrier High School Academic Booster Club will be having its first meeting at 7 p.m. Sept. 24 in the school's library. All parents are invited to attend. The club will provide academic incentives to students and financial support to academic endeavors.

Family reunion

A Kitchens-Norris family reunion will take place at 11 a.m. Oct. 7 at Brassellie Park in Gibson, Ga. Those attending are asked to bring a picnic lunch. For more information, call Bobbie Horton at 790-9746.
