Evans continues winning streak

From Staff Reports

The Evans Knights completed an area sweep by beating Harlem, 41-7, on Friday.

The game marked the 50th anniversary of the rivalry, which began Sept. 26, 1958 and also resulted in an Evans victory -- 35-7.

Evans running back Jonathan Finch ran for four touchdowns in the first half. The Knights held the Bulldogs to 76 yards of offense and allowed only a third-quarter score to Harlem running back Seth Hill.

The Knights, off to a 3-0 start for a second straight season, were coming off a bye after starting the season by beating rivals Greenbrier and Lakeside.

Coach Marty Jackson's team will face a tough region test when it plays host to Glenn Hills on Friday.

The Spartans are coming off a 34-14 win at Lakeside.

"Harlem was a good football team, and we know Glenn Hills is going to be a good football team, too," Jackson said. "Glenn Hills will be the most athletic team we'll face coming up."

Correspondent Wes Mayle contributed to this story.
