With his sights set on swimming in college, Joshua Fulcher swore off his favorites: Mountain Dew and Sour Patch Kids candy.
Instead, he drinks mainly water these days. For food, he eats a lot of red meat for protein, along with greens like asparagus and broccoli. And if he's hungry for a snack, he'll eat an apple or a banana instead of grabbing a Little Debbie snack cake like he did so many times before.
"I used to eat candy and junk food," he said. "This year, I really focused on my diet. It helped a lot."
