As a sweeper on the Evans High School soccer team, Jeung Won Montoya doesn’t put up a lot of gaudy numbers that pad his stats.
But his skills, work ethic and personal character were strong enough to get him noticed, and next year he’ll attend Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Ga., on a soccer scholarship.
Surrounded by family and teammates in the Evans media center, Montoya signed the paperwork Friday to attend the private Christian school next year.
“He works hard,” said Evans boys coach Brian Killips. “He’s always trying to get better.”
