Hitting was at a premium in temperatures struggling to stay above 40 degrees Monday night.
Evans put together eight hits, just enough for a 6-0 win at Harlem in both teams’ season opener.
“It’s not a hitter’s night, that’s for sure,” Knights coach Ricky Beale said. “You just hope you can get something across the plate and get your barrel on it.”
Evans started seven seniors against Harlem, just three of them returning starters. Junior Levin Lackey, who pitched the first four innings, transferred in from Laney.
